Wii Punch-Out !!

Punch-Out, a classic NES game, has been revamped by Nintendo and made into a brand new Wii game. It was developed by Next Level Games, and released in May of 2009. The new version has become just as popular as the old one, if not more so. It’s clever cartoony graphics keep gamers happy, while it’s intuitive control scheme and accurate motion control make the game fun for casual gamers and even young kids.

Punch-Out is a boxing game, but it’s not a simulator. It’s not exactly realistic like Fight Night or similar games, so if that’s what you’re looking for I suggest you steer clear of this game. Punch-Out is more of an arcade game with some twists. There are a total of 13 characters that you can play with, each with their own personalities, quirks, and special moves and abilities. None of these characters are new – they are the exact same characters that were featured in the original Punch-Out games.

While the game itself is easy to learn and play, mastering it is a whole different matter. Experienced players know that success in Punch-Out depends on your ability to react quickly and execute perfect counter attacks at the perfect moment. A lot of the game is about reading what your opponent (whether human or computer) will do next. The difference in skill level needed is considered by most to be a good thing, as pretty much anyone can play it, but it’s not so easy that it becomes boring quickly.

The game has been received very well since its release in May, 2009. It has received generous reviews from authorities such as IGN (who gave Punch-Out an 8.8/10 overall), and Gamespot (who gave it an 8.5/10), and it has sold many more copies than originally expected. Classic NES and SNES gamers love the old feel of the game, and casual gamers enjoy the sheer fun of punching their opponent! No matter who you are or what kind of games you like, if you own a Wii, I strongly recommend picking up a copy of Punch-Out!
