Wii Fit - power up your inner balance!

When Nintendo released its latest system (the Wii) it aimed to get the entire family involved in not only gaming, but also becoming more active. The Wii Remotes are used by moving the controller through the air to interact with the game. It uses two points of light which communicate with a sensor. What’s important here is that this allows the user to involve their arms and sometimes their entire body. No more stereotypes about couch potato gamers here!

But recently, the company has taken this concept a step further with a unique new game platform entitled “Wii Fit.” With this revolution comes a whole new approach to getting in shape. It also takes the Wii’s philosophy to a new level! Yes, you can actually lose weight and tone your body with the Wii Fit!

The first thing that sets this game apart from any other game, when you take it out of the box, is that it comes with the Wii Fit balance board. This connects to the Wii and allows you to do a variety of interactive exercises and more, which interrelate to what is happening on the screen.

Instead of a boring exercise regimen, the Wii Fit makes exercising and health a fun process, just like a game! But this is not just for fun! It really works! Families all over the world are seeing real results with their bodies just by having fun using the Wii Fit!

You may be thinking: how can a game get you real results, and how can anyone learn to truly take care of their health and wellness by playing a game? Valid questions, but don’t worry, the Wii Fit really does achieve all this and more!

Many would argue that the Wii Fit is not “fit” for being used as a replacement for a regular exercise routine, but rather should be viewed as a supplement to an existing regimen. There are also questions as to the full accuracy of things like the body mass index calculations and other measurements which should be done by a health care professional or weight loss specialist.

With that said, there are quite a few ways to tone and keep track of your overall results by using the Wii Fit system. It definitely does help with the state of mind of those who are trying to improve their body shape, and again, enhances well-being.

But will you really get fit using the system? Instead of merely examining the details of how the Wii Fit works or focusing exclusively on the philosophy and implementation of the balance board and software, most people just want to know if it will work. And the answer to this comes down to the same answer of how to lose weight and get in shape using any approach to fitness (whether traditional or modern): your results are going to be closely correlated with your will power.

A game may help a little with will power, but if you buy the Wii Fit system and don’t use it regularly, or don’t make full use of it, you are falling prey to the same problem that has plagued people for centuries. So before you invest in any weight loss or fitness system, the most important things to do are: check with your doctor, and consider whether you are willing to invest the time and energy it really takes to get results. At the end of the day, Wii Fit or not, YOU are the key!
