The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the first of the Zelda franchise to reach the Wii. It was originally developed for Nintendo’s previous system, the Gamecube, but as production lasted longer and longer, it was eventually ported to the Wii.

It was given some integration with the Wii controller, but everything else was left the same as the GameCube version (which was released at the same time).

The story follows the adventures of former ranch-hand Link and his sidekick Midna as they team up against the evil Twilight King Zant, who is making an attempt to merge the land of Hyrule with a dark shadow land. Along the way, Link encounters challenging dungeons with innovative puzzles, and countless enemies that can be defeated in new and interesting ways.

One central gameplay element is Link’s transformation to and from a wolf form. As a wolf, he has a heightened sense of smell and an ability to jump higher. Certain levels are based around these abilities – so that is a nice break from the regular gameplay. Link is able to acquire many special skills throughout the game, becoming a master swordsman and learning to use items for different purposes. (more…)
