Punch-Out, a classic NES game, has been revamped by Nintendo and made into a brand new Wii game. It was developed by Next Level Games, and released in May of 2009. The new version has become just as popular as the old one, if not more so. It’s clever cartoony graphics keep gamers happy, while it’s intuitive control scheme and accurate motion control make the game fun for casual gamers and even young kids.

Punch-Out is a boxing game, but it’s not a simulator. It’s not exactly realistic like Fight Night or similar games, so if that’s what you’re looking for I suggest you steer clear of this game. It is certainly more interactive to simply set the nunchuk aside, but it’s really a matter of preference.

While that may sound simplistic, the truth is that the serve meter is what makes this a more complex experience – you can use this meter to determine whether you want to serve a full-spin shot to your opponent, or if you’re going to fake him out with a weak spinning serve. Of course, as you progress through the game, you’ll learn different combination moves and how to work your opponent’s shots to your own advantage. (more…)
