Ever since its creation decades ago, the Mario brand of games has been bringing fun and excitement to people of all ages, from all over the world. As one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, there are quite a few die-hard fans of the series out there, and this game met – and exceeded – all of their expectations. Even the harshest critics ranked this latest installment in the ever-popular series well.
The game is what you would call a “traditional” Mario game, but with some major improvements. Though the basics of the game very closely resemble the old Mario games, the graphics are much cleaner and better in general. Of course the new platform (Nintendo Wii) certainly had an effect on the quality of the graphics, but I think that this game has some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen in a Mario game. Of course you shouldn’t expect to be wowed by the graphics, but you’ve got to consider that the Wii is not really known for its graphics, but rather, its game play, which is much more important in my opinion.
Perhaps one of the greatest improvements in Super Mario Bros Wii
is the implementation of motion-controlled characters. It’s much more fun to use the Wii Remote to move your character than to simple press a button. The controls are very intuitive, and usually anyone can do pretty well on this game, regardless of their experience. (more…)
The Mario series is one of the most recognizable and popular video game series to ever exist. Its games have regularly topped charts, both for sales and critical reception.
Nintendo 2007, Video Game, $37.99
Super Mario Galaxy is the newest Mario game, and is quite possibly the best yet. It was released in November, 2007 on Nintendo’s Wii system. It has met immense critical reception, with an average rating placing it in the top 2 on game review aggregation sites. The plot is predictable, but nobody plays Mario games for the plot. The real fun starts when you get into the gameplay. Mario visits various galaxies, each with their own themes, monsters, puzzles, and laws of physics. Each area is so bizarre and unique, and full of fun challenges. You have to complete a huge range of tasks, from racing and flying to jumping between platforms or solving puzzles. (more…)
The Sim’s was based solely on the basis of a small household or party communicating with varies “sims” to become rich, famous or social upstanding. But Electronic Arts has taken a new approach with MySims.
Electronic Arts 2007, Video Game, $50.66
MySims is totally unique and different to previous versions much like the Wii. So they both suit each other perfectly. The Objective of MySims is simple, like most Wii Games. You must rise to the challenge and return a zero-star town to it’s former five-star glory. To do this you must build houses and buildings, interact with the townspeople and take on new projects and much more.
MySims is a Nintendo exclusive that suit the Wii, so the game is able to reach into areas where multi-platform games couldn’t. The Wii remote is once again used with full advantage and the navigation throughout the game is simple. To create your character in the game it takes only a matter of minutes and you can stylish and portray your character with a robust range of models and items to choose from. (more…)
